Post your philosophy of teaching paper here in the format described below. This 5-6 page double-spaced, the typewritten paper encourages students to examine their current outlook on their chosen profession. Using the underlined subtitles outlined below, include the following:
Introduction: Why are you choosing to become a teacher? What is your preferred age level and/or subject area and why? Who or what has influenced you to move in this direction? In what ways has your experience as a K-12 student influenced you about the type of teacher you want to become?
Instructional Styles: Relate this section to the theories and philosophies of education (idealism, realism, pragmatism, perennialism, critical theory, essentialism, progressivism, and existentialism. You should discuss at least 5 of them. Describe ways in which some of these philosophies have influenced you and how you plan to accommodate differences. . See sample philosophy paper.
Classroom Management: What are your beliefs about classroom management? How will you inform students about your expectations? How will you encourage/elicit their cooperation?
Classroom Design: Describe what your “dream” classroom would look like and how this classroom design nurtures your desired teaching/learning environment.
Summary: In the process of writing this paper, what have you learned about yourself, both as an individual and as a prospective teacher? Consider what has surprised you and how you might use this information in the future. What do you foresee as your strengths as a teacher? What is problematic? In what ways do you plan to address the problematic area(s)?
