In this lesson, you will use three databases in the Cullom-Davis Library to search for published literature. This skill forms the basis for future investigations.

Cochrane Library includes the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), and Cochrane Clinical Answers. (I got 1, so expect to get about the same amount.) Review the Directions for Cochrane (PDF).Download Directions for Cochrane (PDF).

PubMed includes MEDLINE. (I got 30-40, so expect to get about the same amount.) Review the Directions for PubMed (PDF).

CINAHL (an acronym for Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature) and Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition both use EBSCO Host. (I got 20-30, so expect to get about the same amount.) Review the Directions for EBSCO Host: CINAHL (PDF). Remove any articles that are not related to breast cancer, and ensure that every result is actually an article.

Go to the link to the Bradley Cullom-Davis Library and conduct a literature search in all three of these databases. The PICO(T) you are to search is: In persons with “breast cancer,” does the use of yoga reduce fatigue? Use the advanced search; limit the results to the past five years and English as the language. Notice the quotation marks around “breast cancer.” Note that the comparison for most of these articles is counseling, but we don’t want to include it in the search because it would limit the results too much.

When you have completed this search, submit your results in the assignment link provided. Your results submission should include the following file formats:

Results for Cochrane will be a .txt file.

Results for PubMed will be an excel CSV file.

The Results for EBSCOhost will be an HTML file.

This assignment will be graded using the Using Available Search Engines Rubric.
