What are we looking for in your initial response? As a reminder, you have been assigned a group and will focus your response on the assigned question from the Discussion 1, Leadership Scenarios:
Group/Scenario C:
I’m not just looking for you to post your thoughts and be done. I also want you to leverage the reading material by attributing research that supports your position. Simply attribute the material you reference so we all know which reading and author you are talking about.
In the dynamic world of military leadership and ethics, the challenges and complexities faced by individuals in positions of authority often demand innovative solutions and thoughtful consideration of ethical dilemmas. In this assignment, you will delve into three distinct scenarios, each presenting a unique set of circumstances and questions that require insightful responses informed by course material, personal experiences, and relevant source support. By exchanging ideas and insights with your peers, you will foster a deeper understanding of leadership, ethics, and organizational dynamics.
Assignment:
Provide a 350-word/No more then 400 response to your instructor-assigned scenario. Justify and support your answer using your experience and source support from the assigned readings.
SCENARIO C:
In the article “Narcissism and Toxic Leaders,” the authors assert that it is too “simplistic to imply that all narcissistic behaviors are inevitably toxic.” Indeed, some narcissistic behaviors that toxic leaders display (e.g., “exaggerating achievements or talents” and “taking advantage of others to achieve one’s own goals”) prove beneficial to personal and organizational success, thus often resulting in recognition and rewards (e.g., promotions, awards, etc.).
QUESTION:
How might you and your organization promote a culture where success is rewarded and those with demonstrated potential are put forth for promotion without inadvertently encouraging toxic and narcissistic behaviors?
Use course material (citing appropriately) to support your ideas and provide a personal example. If you do not have such an example, you may use one from someone you know or an historical example.
